Samsung TV Plus users can now shop for Amazon products directly through their televisions, thanks to a new partnership between the two tech giants. The integration, powered by Amazon Live FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television), allows viewers to purchase items they see on screen using their smartphones via a QR code system.
How It Works
The new Amazon Live FAST channel within Samsung TV Plus leverages “Shop the Show” technology. This means that when you watch live shopping broadcasts or curated segments, you can scan an on-screen QR code to open a synchronized shopping experience in the Amazon app. From there, you can browse, add to your cart, and even participate in live chats with hosts and other shoppers – all while the show continues on your TV.
What to Expect
The Amazon Live FAST channel will feature content tied to Amazon’s major shopping events (like Prime Day or Black Friday), as well as original series like In Bed with Paige DeSorbo, Pick Your Prize, and Shopping Court. The goal is to blur the lines between entertainment and commerce, making impulse purchases easier than ever.
Device Compatibility
The Amazon Live FAST channel is available on Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 onwards, Galaxy devices, Smart Monitors, and even Family Hub refrigerators. This broad accessibility suggests that Samsung and Amazon are aiming to make shoppable TV a mainstream experience.
This development signals a growing trend toward seamless integration of shopping into entertainment platforms. While convenient for consumers, it also raises questions about how these technologies will affect spending habits and impulse buying. The ability to instantly purchase items seen on screen could normalize more frequent and less deliberate purchases.
