Google Expands AI Travel Tools Globally

Google is rolling out its AI-powered travel planning features worldwide, including an expanded “Flight Deals” tool and new capabilities within its AI-powered Search mode. These updates aim to simplify travel booking and trip organization, leveraging artificial intelligence to find affordable flights, create detailed itineraries, and manage reservations.

AI-Powered Flight Deals Now Available in Over 200 Countries

The “Flight Deals” tool, initially launched in the U.S., Canada, and India, is now available in over 200 countries and territories. The feature uses AI to analyze travel preferences – destination, dates, and budget – and displays the best available flight options. Google says the tool now supports over 60 languages, making it accessible to a wider global audience.

This expansion addresses a growing demand for efficient travel planning. Consumers increasingly rely on digital tools to find the best deals and streamline their travel arrangements. The AI-powered approach aims to eliminate hours of manual searching and price comparison.

Canvas Integrates AI for Detailed Trip Planning

Google’s AI-powered Search mode is also gaining new capabilities through the integration of its “Canvas” tool. Canvas, originally designed for study planning, now allows users to create comprehensive travel itineraries.

Users describe their desired trip, then select the “Create with Canvas” option. The AI generates a plan including real-time flight and hotel data, Google Maps details, and relevant information from across the web. This feature moves beyond simple flight searches to offer a holistic trip organization experience.

The AI can also assist with tradeoffs, such as choosing between hotels based on proximity to different attractions. Currently, Canvas travel planning is available on desktop in the U.S. for users opted into the AI Mode experiment in Labs.

Agentic Booking Expands to All U.S. Users

Google is also expanding its agentic booking capabilities within AI Mode. Previously limited to users in Labs, this feature now allows all U.S. users to make reservations for restaurants, events, and beauty/wellness appointments directly through AI Mode.

Users can specify detailed preferences – party size, date, time, cuisine – and the AI will search across multiple platforms to find real-time availability. This capability marks a significant step toward integrating AI directly into the booking process.

This expansion suggests Google aims to become a one-stop shop for travel planning, moving beyond search to offer seamless booking and itinerary management.

These updates reflect a broader trend toward AI-driven travel solutions. By automating tasks like price comparison, itinerary creation, and reservation management, Google seeks to simplify travel planning and enhance the user experience. The expansion of these tools globally underscores the growing demand for AI-powered travel assistance
