Don’t get excited.
Apple pushed another update today. iOS 26.5. 2. It sits out there for you to grab but it doesn’t come with toys. No new UI tweaks. No fresh features. And if you’re tired of the Liquid Glass design? Bad news. It stays exactly as annoying as before.
The release notes are short. Barely any meat. Just security patches.
“Security updates are important.”
That’s the takeaway. You don’t want your iPhone compromised. So install it. Even if you hate wasting storage on invisible changes.
It’s over 10GB though. Massive. You’ll likely need to purge your camera roll just to fit it in.
How to actually get it
- Open Settings
- Tap General then Software Update
- Hit Install
Simple enough.
Why do we still tolerate these bloaty downloads for things we can’t see?
Do it because hackers are out there waiting for a crack. Then maybe go delete a podcast you’ve never listened to.
The phone reboots. You’re safe. For now.
