RedMagic just launched the 11 Air, a gaming phone that squeezes a massive 7,000-mAh battery into an unusually slim design. The new device, revealed on Thursday, aims to deliver high-end gaming performance without sacrificing portability – a challenge many competitors struggle with.
Balancing Size and Power
The 11 Air maintains the same 7.85mm (0.3 inches) depth as the RedMagic 10 Air, yet manages to house one of the largest smartphone batteries available. Weighing in at 207 grams (7.3 ounces), it’s comparable in size to mainstream flagship phones like the iPhone 16 Pro, but offers significantly more raw gaming power.
This is a notable improvement over the heavier RedMagic 10S Pro (229 grams), which packed a slightly larger 7,050-mAh battery. RedMagic has effectively optimized space to deliver a better balance between battery life and handling.
Performance and Price
The 11 Air runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, catering to demanding mobile games. Pricing starts at $529 for a configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A higher-tier model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is available for $629.
Fast charging is also a key feature: the phone supports 80-watt wired charging, which is exceptional for a device in this price bracket. The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 16-megapixel front camera.
Gaming Features and Software Concerns
The RedMagic 11 Air prioritizes gaming with a 6.85-inch OLED display and a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. It also includes a built-in cooling fan to prevent overheating during extended gaming sessions.
However, the included RedMagic software overlay has received mixed reviews. While the console-style gaming menus are a plus, the default web browser contains advertisements – a questionable design choice that may deter some users.
Availability
The RedMagic 11 Air will be available in Phantom Black and Prism White. Early bird vouchers go live on February 5, with open sales beginning on February 11.
RedMagic continues to push the boundaries of gaming phone design, proving that high performance doesn’t always require bulky hardware. The 11 Air’s combination of a large battery, fast charging, and a slim profile makes it a compelling option for mobile gamers seeking both power and portability.
